You can either test slido directly from host mode or use a second device (such as a smartphone) to fully simulate the experience of your participants. If you purchased a paid plan, don't you worry! Testing won't make it expire. In this article: Test directly from Host mode Test using a smartphone Delete testing questions and reset poll results Test directly from Host mode The easiest way to test your event is by selecting View as participant near the bottom right corner of your host mode. This shows you a live participant view of your slido. You can use this when you want to send a testing question, try voting in a poll, or test anything else from your audience’s perspective. Test polls and Q&A from host mode Please make sure that your poll is active before voting. You can activate a poll by hitting the green play button next to it. Pro tip: When you’re ready to present Slido, select the green Present button (bottom right corner) to display slido’s Present mode. Then, simply share your screen with your audience. Open Present mode from host view Test using a smartphone You can also simulate the experience of your participants by joining your slido using an actual smartphone (or any other device you have at hand). Simply go to slido.com and type in your event code, or alternatively, scan the QR code. If your meeting is more than 45 days away, please test it directly from Host mode or use the event link which can can access the event at any time. Try sending a question Once you enter the event, you can send testing questions using your smartphone. If you wish, you can check Slido Host mode on your primary device (computer) to see the questions appear, along with the Present mode to simulate showing Slido to your audience. Try voting in a poll To test your polls, make sure you activate one first in Host mode by hitting the green play button next to it. Then, cast a vote to see the results update in real-time and make sure everything runs smoothly. Once again, if you wish, you can check s lido Host mode on your primary device (computer), along with the Present mode to simulate showing poll results to your audience. Delete testing questions and reset poll results Once you finish testing, you can reset poll results and delete all submitted testing questions before running your actual meeting. This step will make sure that your test questions and test poll entries are not going to be included in your analytics or exports. This will ensure that your participants submissions aren’t interfered with when it comes to your upcoming meeting or event.

Survey Add a survey to your interactions to run multiple polls at the same time, collect feedback, rate multiple items and add an "other" option to a multiple choice poll. For example, you could start with a word cloud, followed by a rating poll, an open text poll to ask for the reason for your rating. This ensures the data will only be collected from your live event or meeting. Share your Polls with participants Display Present mode on your screen to let participants join via the specific code. Your audience will be able to use this code during the dates you set up for your slido. Alternatively, you can send out the direct link or a QR code to your slido via email or internal platform to collect votes, crowdsource questions, and brainstorm ideas asynchronously during or even before your event or meeting. Participants will be able to submit their questions and upvote other ones. This helps you determine the most pressing topics and address them first. Collecting questions How your participants can submit questions depends on the specific dates that you’ve set up. During the set dates, your audience can send questions at slido.com using the given code. Submitting a question as a participant Using moderation With our paid plans of professional upwards, you can use the Moderation feature which allows you to review the questions submitted by the participants before they appear live for everyone to see. You can approve the questions which you want to be displayed publicly and dismiss the ones you don’t. You can turn it on or off from the Q&A options in the top right corner. When moderation is turned on, the questions will show under the In review label. If you select this, you can then review your questions and approve or dismiss them. The approved questions will then display to participants. Moderating Q&A questions Presenting the Q&A session When displaying Slido during your meeting or event, make sure to share Present mode with your audience. You can then also manage the Q&A session directly from there. Highlight a question that’s being answered and then Mark it as answered once you’re ready to move on to the next question. The questions are sorted by popularity, i.e. the most upvoted one appears at the top. Present Q&A and manage questions from there Question replies Every Slido plan allows you to reply to submitted questions as a moderator. This way you can answer questions in written form or leave a message to a question that is not relevant for the Q&A. Replies are displayed only to the participant. Reply as a moderator Pro tip: With Moderation enabled, you can reply privately to questions before dismissing them. In our Professional plan and higher, you can also enable Participant replies so that participants can reply to the submitted questions as well. You can do this by toggling on the R eplies in Q&A options on the right. Besides highlighting, archiving, and filtering questions, you can also moderate which questions go live, add labels to questions, and reply privately to a participant. In this article: Manage and control questions in your Q&A Add and use Q&A labels Written replies to submitted questions Manage and control questions in your Q&A Available in our Professional and higher plans Moderation allows you to review the questions submitted by participants before they appear live for everyone to see. This is especially useful when you have a large public audience and you don’t know exactly what to expect. You can turn this on in your Q&A options, under Moderation. Enable Q&A Moderation All incoming questions will appear and can be reviewed under the In review section. All approved questions are then listed in the right hand column. To moderate incoming questions: Review incoming questions under the In review section Approve questions with the green check mark Dismiss questions with the X icon Moderate incoming questions How it works for participants Once a participant submits their question, it appears as Waiting for review for them. They can then edit their question for up to 5 minutes after you approve it, or they can withdraw it at any point. Edited questions will go back to the review stage for the moderator to approve once more Participant view of Q&A moderation Withdrawn questions will disappear for participants. They will, however, be listed in the archive as anonymous for the moderator to see. Add and use Q&A labels Labels offer an easy solution to categorize and filter questions, making your meetings or Q&A sessions more structured and efficient. To create and/or assign a label to a question, click on the label icon and enter the label you’d like to use. Previously created labels will be there for you to choose from, or you can create a new one on-the-fly. Create and add Q&A Labels If you’d like participants to pick from your labels and assign them to their own questions, you can do so from your Q&A options. Click on the eye icon next to each label to make them available for your audience to select. Enable Labels for your participants And here’s how it will look for participants: Participant view of Q&A labels Written replies to submitted questions Sometimes you may receive questions that you’d like to answer, but aren’t necessarily relevant to the current discussion. As the moderator, you add a written reply to any question. And you can also reply privately to questions in the review stage. Click on the reply icon next to any live question to add a public reply. Any participant will then be able to see both the question and your reply. To reply privately to a question under the In review section: Click the reply icon next to the question Enter your response and click Send Notice that there is a reply listed under the question, yet it is still under review. Private reply to a question waiting for review Only the participant who submitted the question will see the reply. Dismissing the question moves it to your archive, but it will remain visible to the single participant. This is all done through privacy settings and can be set up for individual slidos or at the organizational level. Even if you’re using Single Sign On (SSO), your audience can interact with Slido totally anonymously. Or if you'd rather everyone use their names, you can set this up too. Below you’ll find each option explained and also see what the audience experience looks like. Note that these options don’t apply to a quiz in Slido – where participant names are required to participate Anonymous by default: Questions and poll votes are submitted anonymously unless participants switch to their names Anonymous by default Named by default - Questions and poll votes are submitted with participant names unless they switch to anonymous Named by default To ask for a name when participants join Slido, turn on the require name option. You can find it under Settings > Privacy > Require authentication. Always stay anonymous - Questions and poll votes are submitted anonymously with no option to include a name Always stay anonymous Always require a name - Questions and poll votes are submitted with participant names and no option to switch to anonymous Always require a name When this option is selected, participants will be asked to enter their name when joining the slido as shown in the example below: Participant providing their name when joining a slido Participants can use any names, including “Anonymous”. It is also possible to change their name in their Profile. Once changed, the new name will apply to any previously submitted questions and poll votes. Please note, however, that if your organization has single sign-on (SSO) in place for the slido, this is not possible. Changing privacy settings for a single slido To set your preferred option on an individual slido: Open your S ettings Select Privacy on the left Use the dropdown menu under Participant privacy to select an option and click Save Change participant privacy for a single slido Changing privacy settings for all new slidos If you want all your future slidos to be set the same way: Open up your organization settings by clicking on your initials in the upper right corner > Organization settings and billing Click on the Privacy tab and see the dropdown menu under Participant Choose your preferred option and click Save Change participant privacy for all new slidos This sets the default participant privacy setting for all of your future slidos. However, the setting can still be changed for individual slidos from their S ettings. If you wish to lock these settings, simply click the lock icon. Doing this will make it so participant privacy settings on individual slidos can not be changed. You (the license owner) can log in and start creating slidos right away. Go to Pricing page to check the number of user seats included in our plans To invite your colleagues to the license, or purchase additional seats: Log in to your account Select Team from the left sidebar Click Invite or purchase seats if this is an additional user Enter the email of your new user and select Send Invite Invite new users to your license You can check, resend, or cancel pending and expired invitations in the invitations tab. Email invitations expire after 30 days. Update roles and change member access You can flexibly deactivate, reactivate, and remove members and set their roles according to your needs. In your account, go to the Team tab Click the three dots to open a menu next to the selected team member Select Change role and choose an updated role for that team member Click Save Changing roles of team members You can always deactivate or remove someone from your license and then add them back later. Or invite someone else if you need to. What’s the difference between an admin and a user? All license members can by default create new slidos under the license, but you can control their rights by setting a specific role for them. Admin and Owner can both see, create, and edit the slidos of all the other license members – and update roles. Both can access the Organization settings, but only the owner can access and change SSO settings. User can create and access their own slidos, but cannot access ones created by other users – unless they are invited as a co-host. If you’re organizing an event with multiple rooms or you’re expecting a bigger audience, you might need an additional pair of hands to help you approve questions or activate polls. With any of our paid plans, you can share your event with as many cohosts as you need. If you’re using our free basic plan there’s a limit of 10 cohosts per event. Please note a cohost can be added to one event per each event host in an account. Cohosts can’t access or change any event settings. For an additional member to change event settings, this would require additional users. To send an email invitation to a cohost: Open Settings and select the Share access tab Click on Add individual collaborators and type in the email address of your desired cohost Select Invite to send the email invitation The email invitation link is valid for 30 days. You can resend or revoke the invitation anytime using the three-dot menu. Share access to add collaborators If you wish to enable a shareable link , simply toggle on the option, copy the link and share it via email or your preferred communication tool. Please note that shareable links are not available for organizations with member SSO including Webex licenses. Once you invite a collaborator, they'll receive an email with the invitation. If they don't have a created Slido account, they'll be asked to create one. If they already do have it, they can simply log in. To access the event in the future, after accepting the invitation, they can do so by visiting www.slido.com and logging in. One person can be a cohost only in one event at a time. Allow inviting external cohosts when SSO is set for your Slido Organization If you're using single sign on (SSO) for your Slido organization, you can only invite people who are already members of the organization. To allow cohosts to log in without SSO, the organization owner needs to enable the option Exclude guests from SSO in the Member SAML/SSO settings under Organization settings. Inviting external guests Only the owner of Slido organization can change the SSO settings. Manage cohosts If the cohost's email invitation expired, you can simply resend it or revoke it. You can also revoke access of any existing cohosts. Open Settings and select the Share access tab Click on Add individual collaborators and select the three vertical dots next to the cohost ​​​​​ Select Revoke access/Resend invite Manage share access for guests Cohost competencies People you invite to help with your event can do all the actions related to running Q&A, Polls and Ideas.
