We will be presenting at a conference soon and the conference will pre-load the presentation on their laptops for my session. Will they need to have the slido extension on their laptop for me to use slido? Can I still present and have all the necessary features (especially live results from questions) work as they should if they do NOT download the extension?

I assume you are asking about Powerpoint integration. In that case the answer is yes they need to have the extension installed. And they also need to login to Slido to gain access to Slido polls for your presentation. For that you would need to invite them as collaborators to your Slido.
