Question

Automating the activating of polls (integrated in PPT)

I have embedded several polls in PPT using integrated Slido. Is there a way not to have to manually activate each poll using a separate device while presenting the PPT?

Hello @Belley

Mikaella here from Slido -  happy to help with your set up! 😊

With our slido for powerpoint add-in, you can just click on Present from the slido sidebar and you can click through the slides and it will automatically activate the slido polls for you.

The guide below will walk you through how to use slido in powerpoint.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Thanks Mikaella! So the poll auto-activates whenever I get to these slides:

But the results will appear on the screen as the participants respond, won’t it? I don’t want the participants to see the results until everyone has responded...

Yes that is right, it will automatically activate it but if you want to hide the results first and then show, you can change this setting in your slido sidebar to “show results on click” within your powerpoint presentation.

If you open your Open text poll and click on the three vertical dots to edit, you can select the option below.

It will show you the title slide when you present with slido but as the participant count increases ( this is the icon on the top right hand side) with responses and you’re ready to reveal the answers, you can just click on the powerpoint slide and it will show the open text responses. I hope this helps.

Please let me know how you go and happy to help with any questions!

My best,
Mikaella from slido

Hi Mikaella

I do have a question… Wouldn’t it be more helpful to have the default setting to show the results “on click” because whether you are conducting a poll or a quiz, surely, you don’t want to reveal the “answers” before the participants even start? The QR code appears with the question before the answer is revealed “on click”. I’m not sure under what circumstances the “immediate” setting would be useful… The question and QR code would have to be prepared on a separate slide before this for the “immediate” results:

Hi @Belley

Thank you very much for your feedback! I can see how this would make more sense in your use case. In some cases, for example, people use open-text polls as an icebreaker in their online meetings. That would be one possible scenario where displaying the survey results "immediately" could make sense.

Best,
