Slido is gradually rolling out a new user interface. If the below steps and visuals match what you are seeing within your account, then you are using the new interface and this article is for you. If not, please see this version.

Labels offer an easy way to categorize and filter questions. This can make your meetings or Q&A sessions more structured and efficient.

Available in our Professional plan and higher.

In this article:

Prepare and manage your labels

See the steps below for setting up your labels.

  1. Open up Settings
  2. Select Features > Audience Q&A
  3. Click + ADD A NEW LABEL and add the labels you need

Create labels for Q&A

This is also where you can manage your labels. You can change the labels’ colors or delete any ones that you no longer need. Plus you can use the eye icon to make a label visible or hidden for your participants.

Making labels visible for your participants allows them to add them to their own questions.

Edit your labels and make them visible for your audience

You can also add labels from your Q&A settings.

Add labels from Q&A settings

Add or edit labels on questions

Add or edit the labels on a question by hovering over it and selecting the label icon. You can assign pre existing labels, remove labels, or create new ones.

Adding and editing labels

If needed, you can also apply labels to Q&A questions in bulk.

Filter questions by label

Filtering your questions by their label can help you address similar questions all at once.

  1. Select the Labels button
  2. Choose the label you’d like to filter
  3. When finished, click the X on the label to go back to all questions

Labels for participant use

Any labels you’ve made visible to your participants can be added by them to their own questions. This can make it even easier to keep your Q&A session organized.

Here’s how it looks for participants:

Labels in exports

With all our paid plans, you can export your Q&A questions as an XLS file. There you’ll see Labels as its own column for easy filtering.

Hello,

Can you please confirm how the present mode can be filtered by label. We usually use the star feature to sort the present mode. I understand this is being phased out.

Thanks

DCS Events

Hey @DCS Events Team ,

This feature is currently under exploration and not available in the New Host Mode.

To view which features are returning and being worked on and which features are being deprecated with the old host mode, we have this article:

  • Filter Q&A by Label in Present mode: This feature is rarely used, but we are open to exploring more relevant use cases.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Best,

Thanks Carly,

Appreciate your reply.

In our situation, we occasionally have thousands of questions coming in. A team of moderators usually ‘star’ the questions suitable for addressing in the panel discussion or with the speaker/presenter. The present mode is then on a fold back monitor or ipad with a clear list of questions suitable for discussion. I note that currently present mode still has an option to filter by ‘starred’ however there is no option on the new interface to star questions. What is our alternative to this process? If ‘star’ feature is being removed, and we are using labels, then we need to be able to filter questions in present mode by label. Let me know what is the best alternative here.

I also wanted to ask, how long will we be able to transition back to the old interface for?

Thanks so much.

Christina

Hey @DCS Events Team (Christina),

Thanks so much for sharing your use case and how you use this feature.

If you’re willing to share your use case, we’d love to talk to you.

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Best,

Thanks Carly,

I have booked in time for tomorrow evening however I may not be able to attend. It is difficult with the time difference.

Can you please confirm when the old interface will no longer be available?

Thanks

Christina

Hey @DCS Events Team (Christina),

We dont yet have a set date for when the Old Interface will no longer be available, we are currently working on that now.

However, it will not be before January 2025 and we will send plenty of emails and notifications to inform our Users when they will not have the access to Old interface.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Best,

We’re really missing the starring feature for our live events as well.

Or at least a function where we can control from the backend, what is presented.

What I also just wrote direct to support:

The Label funtion is great as well.

What is important for us in a live show, is that the present view can sort in the same way as the moderation.

It makes a lot of confusion, when the chair of a meeting is going through the incoming questions, but the presented questions are not the same.

A great function could be that you in the present view can choose to follow the chosen sort order in the moderation view, so they always align.

In this way, they can use the label function ongoing as questions are coming in, and then sort by label. On top of this, it should be taking into consideration how the sort order in the labelled questions should be. I definitely recommend by “oldest”. If you only have “recent”, new questions will be pushing older questions down, which can be confusing in a live situation.

Hi @AV CENTER Rental, thank you for your feedback!

I’m afraid we've now permanently replaced the starring feature with our labels function. However I understand how important it is to align the present view with the moderation view for live events, and I'll log this as a feature request for our team to consider improving this in the future. We truly appreciate your input.
