Assign polls to a session / new experience

You’re correct here, we will be deprecating this feature with the Old Host Mode in the beginning of 2025.

You can continue using this feature in the Old Host Mode by switching back from the Help? button in the bottom left corner of your slido.

Thanks @Carly from Slido appreciate the clarification on this. Very disappointed to hear it won’t be transitioned across to the new experience as this will a negative impact to some of our use cases. In the meantime will continue to use the old experience whilst we look at how to mitigate this going into 2025.

Hi, I am also sad to see this function being deprecated.  Can you tell me exactly when in 2025 as I have conferences until 8th Feb and would like to use this facility.

We dont have a date set yet but it wont be until after February 2025.

We are also reconsidering the Sessions feature but it has not been decided yet.

Please keep updated from the link I shared above and be on the lookout for any email updates regarding the deprecation of Old Host Mode which will be sent out months before we deprecate it.

thanks for the update.  Please dont deprecate it!!  Its so useful when running a full on single or multiday conference to keep the polls structured so you know for a session which polls need to be actioned…..

I wanted to be transparent and let you know that we’ve now fully deprecated the old interface and for better or worse, the Sessions feature has not returned. I apologize for the inconvenience and please know that these decisions are never taken lightly.

However...we are researching other better ways of organizing your polls with a slido. We don’t have a timeline at this point, but we do hope to introduce something in the future 💚

Really disappointed this is gone as well - it was really important to us when managing our large, multi stream events to understand which poll was in which session. Unfortunately, we are going to have to look at alternatives as this really isn’t sustainable for us as all the polls blend into one!

Deprecate?  That means to abhor or put down.  Is there some new tech usage of that word?  Or is it just a mistake?

Deprecate is a term used in tech/software for when a feature is either no longer recommended for use or will be removed.

There’s not necessarily a way to schedule them where they activate on their own.  We will have a replacement coming for sessions, but there is no ETA currently.
