anonymous questions

Are Slido questions truly anonymous if they post anonymously? We have someone who keeps asking odd questions and would like to address them one to one.

Hi @Haventree Bank

While we do collect IP addresses as part of the technical data. It’s automatically collected when you use our services or view the content provided by Slido, we value the privacy of participants and we’re committed to maintain it. We would not share any direct or indirect information about participants (including IP address) without a law enforcement request so if they have answered anonymously then it is anonymous.

You can learn more about what we collect and why we need it in our Privacy Policy.

Also, let me share the link to Compliance part of our Security page which might be useful for your company. This security FAQ answers the part about IP addresses in more detail if needed.

Hope this helps,

Monica from Slido

If a question or comment has been asked anonymous on a meeting and the company wants to find out who it is, can they get the user name and or email address ? or is there a way that the company itself and get this information. Thank you

Hi @Walter1975

As my colleague has explained, there needs to be an official police investigation due to a law being broken, and then we can share the information we have but only directly with the police. To remain compliant and protect the anonymity of the participants, it is not possible to share the data in any other cases.

If you would like to prevent anonymous submissions for any reason, you can control this through participant privacy feature.

Best,

Thank you so much for your reply, its much appreciated. Do you know if there would be a way that a Company using Slido could get this information themselves ?  so there own date or is this something that isn't allowed ?

Hi @Walter1975,

No. If someone submitted a question anonymously, the company can’t identify them through Slido or access their identity in Analytics or exports. Anonymous submissions remain anonymous, Slido does not share identifying or indirect data with customers.

For future sessions, you can change the participant privacy settings to require names, and depending on your plan - email addresses. This won’t reveal who submitted questions anonymously in a past session.

More information: participant privacy settings.

Best,

Ok thank you , so if the participant privacy settings are changed,

the company will be able to see the details of the individual that asked.

Hi @Walter1975 👋

Not automatically. Changing the setting to Always require a name won’t reveal who submitted a question anonymously in the past. It will require a name for future questions, though the name is provided by the participant.

I hope that helps!
Best~

Ok ,thank you . Im asking because someone has asked an anonymous question and then our Company has located who has asked it
