As a participant in a Slido session, I want to have the join option to enter my name but still be able to continue without it, so that I can join either with my chosen name or automatically as “Anonymous.”

• When the name prompt is enabled, a name input field is displayed.

• If the participant enters a name, it will be shown in the event.

• If the participant leaves the field empty and clicks “Continue,” the system automatically assigns the name “Anonymous.”

• The “Continue” button is always active, regardless of whether a name is entered.

• When the name prompt is disabled, all participants join as “Anonymous” by default.

This would help to accelerate user registration for ongoing slido events.

Hi @Sebastian Altmann 👋

Thanks for the suggestion! As a Slido host and depending on your plan, you can adjust the participant privacy settings for your Slido. This allows you to set your participants as named by defaultanonymous by defaultalways require a name, or always stay anonymous. These settings along with the slido’s privacy settings help you customize the participant experience.

Right now if you require a name when joining a slido, a participant must enter something (even “Anonymous”). Would it help if the name field was optional and not required? So a participant could choose to share their name when joining or not to? That’s the one option that isn’t available currently.

Hi @Joel from Slido - thank you so much for your quick reply. Yes, this additional option would be very helpful. Our preference is to capture a name when users join, but if someone chooses not to enter one, they should still be able to proceed and automatically join as “Anonymous.”

Hi Joel,

Thanks for the update, but what we want is even if the participant do not write anything in the field and click next he should be able to join the survey/quiz as anonymous.

Thanks for the clarifications!

@Sebastian Altmann Are you alright if I simplify the request and make it closer to your last comment?

Title: Allow “Anonymous” participants, even when a name is required to join

Details: If a slido is requiring a name to join, as a participant, I still want the option to join and participate anonymously. Can we make the name requirement optional when joining a slido? I’d like to capture names when people join, but still allow them to join anonymously if they choose.

Does that cover what you’re looking for?
