Question

Multiple different Q&A sessions at same time

Hi there,

I’m considering using Slido for a university open day and over the day there will be around 50 talks happening that would like to involve a Q&A component. Each talk will be based on a different topic and i was wondering if i could use one account for this but have different Q&A sessions running at the same time and how this would work. Would each session need to have a unique QR code or would each have the same QR code and then potentially a code for the guests in that session to enter to then be in the correct Slido Q&A for that session? The QR code would be show on a powerpoint up on the screen and i feel it may be easier for this QR to be universal accross the presentations but then there being a way for the quests to enter the correct session Q&A through the platform. I worry if i need to put 50 unique QRs across the presentations that some may get jumbled and guests ending up in the wrong slido Q&A. Cheers, Tom

Hi @Tom N

Great question, and a very common setup for larger events like this. You’ve got two main ways to approach it:

Option 1: Separate Slido events (one per talk)

  • Each session has its own QR code and link
  • Very clean separation between Q&As
  • Less risk of participants ending up in the wrong session
  • Downside: managing ~50 QR codes can be a bit heavy operationally up-front

Option 2: One Slido event + Multiple rooms

  • You use a single Slido event (QR code/link) across all presentations
  • Setup Multiple Rooms in your event. One room per session.
  • After joining, participants select their session from a dropdown list
  • Each room has its own separate Q&A

This is usually the easier option logistically, especially for your case.

**One thing to keep in mind:
Participants will see the full list of sessions and will need to choose the correct one themselves.

In practice, this works well if:

  • Session names are clearly labeled (e.g. “Room A – Engineering”, “Room B – Business”)
  • Speakers briefly remind attendees to select the right room

Hope that helps.

All the best,

Thank you, Adrian.

I like the sound of the second approach as i can have the presenters make it clear which group to join. What level of Slido subscription would be right for this? the largest talk could have up to 300 people in it. Kind regards, Tom.

Hello @Tom N

Mikaella here from Slido -  happy to help! 😊

It could depend on how many people join your event, do you have an overall number in mind?

We can prepare a price quote for you, if you can come directly to support we’ll be able to assist.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!

My best,
