Dear all,

Can surveys can be created without linking them to an ‘event’? I believe you can, but it’s not clear from the available Q&A.

Could you confirm if the following 4 points are possible.

  1. create surveys and polls that are not linked to any ‘events’
  2. create surveys that users can complete in their own time, i.e. not in a live SLIDO session
  3. create polls that users can complete in their own time, i.e. not in a live SLIDO session
  4. create polls where multiple poll questions can be sent to users in their own time, i.e. not in a live SLIDO session

Thanks and kind regards,

James

Hi @JamesHan.

You would need to create the slido/event in order to then create a survey.  However, slidos can be run asynchronously (versus “live”) with ease.

  1. For terminology’s sake, all interactions (polls and surveys) belong under a slido/event.
  2. Sharing a link to the survey will allow participants to complete it on their own time.
  3. A direct link to a poll will allow participants to respond on their own time.

  4. In a slido, only one poll/interaction can be manually activated at a time.  So you would need to create a survey with the multiple questions for them to display all at once.

I hope that helps!

Thanks Jennifer.

So you always need an ‘event’ tied to any survey.

In that case, can you create a ‘dummy’ event that users do not have to access or login to, therefore still being able to send and receive surveys without the actual need for users to access the ‘linked event’?

Best,

James

Hi @JamesHan.

I’m thinking what might help is to explain that: participants do not log into a Slido account, though you do have options to secure access to your slido/event.

Hi Jennifer,

Sorry what you describe is not clear to me - could you explain another way please?

Effectively, can users conduct a survey, without having to interact with an event, i.e. if I create a dummy event and link a survey to it, would that work?

Regards,

James

Hi @JamesHan.

By “interact,” would you mean having to activate the individual poll questions, one-by-one? When you share a link to the survey, you won’t need to activate the questions.  The link will take participants to a full list of the questions under the survey, and they can respond on their own time.

Thanks Jennifer - but could you please let me know re the specific question about creating a dummy survey; can we simply create a dummy ‘event’ in order to send a survey, and that dummy event would purely be for the purposes of creating the survey which people complete in their own time. Is this possible?

Hi @JamesHan.

No - there is not an alternate form of a slido.  All slidos will have the same features.

Is it that you’re concerned about the effects of the slido dates?  If that might be the case, the link will work outside of the slido dates.
