It is the first time i use slido and i am doing some tests.

yesterday i put the privacy settings so that participants need to enter name and email address (without passcode).

all worked well. We tested, and participants could get in.

Today i did the same test but the system is sending a code to the email address of the participant  who has to 1/go to his email 2/copy/paste the code to get in

I don’t want that,

why is this happening?

thanks for your help

Hi @Araxxe

Thanks for reaching out! What you’re seeing is expected behavior, when email authentication is enabled, Slido automatically sends a verification code to each participant’s email when they join for a second time. This ensures Slido recognizes them as a single, verified participant throughout the event.

If you’d prefer participants to join without entering a code, you can disable “Require email” in your event’s authentication settings. And if you still want to collect emails, you can simply add an open text poll asking for them instead.

thanks, i understand the settings but it does not explain why when i was doing the test the first day with exact same settings the code was not requested...

Hi @Araxxe

Let me elaborate on this!

This specific security setting works in a way that if you enter the slido with a specific email address for the first time, the code is not needed. However, when you enter for the second time, the code is triggered to avoid multiple people trying to access under the same email address. That is the reason you did not get those emails for the first time.

Also, this only happens when people try to join from a different device/browser/incognito window then they did the first time. If the participants enter using the same device and browser, the cookies and cache remembers them and would not even ask for the email and name again for a few days. This is what is more likely to happen to regular participants entering your slido, compared to you now doing some testing and switching between different modes.

I hope this helps!
